I have a noticeable dent on the side of my 13-inch silver Macbook Pro. I wanted to know if AppleCare will cover that to get it fixed?

I have a case and when I bought my macbook at the apple store, the salesman told me it was padded and it should protect my macbook well. I'm a highschool student and I'm always running around trying to get to my classes, so sometimes my laptop case bumps into things, but lightly. Will Applecare cover the dent? I dropped it once, but I just noticed it a couple of days ago. There is also a very small one on the bottom, which doesn't compute as I try to be very careful; my laptop has only been on flat surfaces and my lap. Can Apple fix it?

They can fix it, but not for free. Macbook repairs supposedly are classified into 3 tiers by an Apple Rep, I for least amount of damage and III for most. I have a dent in the corner of my MBP and it would require new housing to get it fixed. $450 (tier I) or ~half the cost of a Macbook Air on education discount... HA.

If it doesn't affect your everyday computing, I wouldn't worry about it. It's awful, but welcome to the club 🙂

But it drives me crazy eveytime I look at it or feel it. If I get a speck case to cover the dent and to better protect my laptop than my apparently crappy case will, do you think it'll fit? the dent is on the side next to the CD drive. It's not affecting the drive or anything, but right after that little hole thing on the CD drive, that's where the dent is.
