I'm trying to migrate from one Lion machine (upgraded from Snow Leopard) to another new Mac Book Pro. 140 G total. It says it will take 21 hours? Is that normal? And when the system looks like it is sleeping, is it?
How are the Mac's connected? Firewire, Ethernet or Wireless?
The wired connections are usually quite fast.
Wifi. But I dumped the Wifi, SuperDuper!-ed the old Mac to a drive, then am now migrating from the drive. Says it will take 2 hours.
I was surprised the Migration Assistant didn't determine that the machine was set to allow it to sleep. Should at least be a warning about that.
WiFi is the slowest possible method to use for migration assistant for future reference.
