Q: corrupt .CWK document, any hope of repair?

I have a word processing document made in appleworks. This was on my dad's emac. I saved the document originally in what was labeled a format that would go between appleworks and microsoft word. Since he had the mac and I had the PC, I thought this would work out great. I cannot open the file on either computer. I have tried everything. Either the file doesn't open and I get an error message saying that it is corrupt. I can't do the 'insert object' trick on word, either. If I try to preview the file I just see jibberish text.

Does anyone know of a program that could recover the document? I've scoured CNET and come up with no luck. I'm at my wits end and I really don't want to have lost this file. There are some .tmp files in the folder from when I made the document too.
