Worked for me for 2 days.  Back to 7.6 :(

Same problem for me none of the solutions or here or any other page have solved my issue. Mid-2011 iMac Mountain Lion, Airport Express, 2 x ATV's various iOS devices and a rMBP and nothing will wake the iMac after a few hours of it sleeping. Within 3 hours it works just fine.

Same problem here. 2011 iMac with Airport Extreme, ATV3, 2 iPads and 2 iPhones. All decices on the latest OS/firmware. Wireless wake on lan is not working. It was working on Snow Leopard.

If you haven't tried already, downgrade the firmware to 7.6

EDIT - actually, darkwake=0 seems to have done the trick. The iMac is still network accessible this morning after about 8 hours of sleep. Hopefully it'll keep!

Alas, downgrading to 7.6 doesn't work for me. Darkwake=0 doesn't work either.

What I did notice is that restarting my Airport Extreme makes it work for a short period (10 minutes or so). That happened after I installed the latest firmware and also when I downgraded to 7.6. But after this period wireless wake on lan does not work.

I may have found something that works.

My main router is from my internet provider and I have an Airport Extreme to extend my network (bridge mode) and it also is my WiFi access point.

Before, when I put my iMac to sleep via the menu, I couldn't get it to wake on wireless LAN. I also had trouble waking it up if it had slept for over a few hours.

    Today I did two things:

    1) give my Airport Extreme a fixed IP adress

    2) switch off ipv6 on my iMac (in Terminal, not via System preferences)

Low and behold, I can wake up my iMac now from my iPhone and iPad and access the iTunes library.

Of course, it is to early to say if this is a definite solution (hence the "I may have found) so I will try tomorrow if it still works (after my iMac slept for some hours).

Sorry, forgot to mention that my iMac already has a fixed IP adress.

    Hello everyone,

I haven't read the complete discussion, o sorry if this has already been asked.
I use my iPad with an app called "SimpleWol" to wake my iMac through wan.

When I send the packets, I can hear that the Mac wakes up, but the screen stays off and TeamViewer is unable to find my computer.

    Any suggestion ?

    Thanks.

    Lexvo, did this work?

No, it only worked for a few days.

    Apple have fixed it!

It's been working fine for just over a week so far.

Apple support called me back about my case, and it appears a combination of updates has solved it (Mac, IOS and Apple TV.)

Yes!! For the last 2 days its been working for me with 7.6.4 (with OS X 10.8.5 on my MacBook Air and OS X (and I also was able to delete "darkwake=0" from /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.Boot.plist on my mini)

Can you tell us what updates? Thanks in advance.

I already have the latest OS-X and iOS installed on my iMac, iPad/iPhone and ATV as well as the latest firmware for my Airport Extreme. I will try tomorrow if things work.

I am assuming it was the AppleTV and Time Capsule updates that finally did the trick, however I can't say for sure if previous updates to other equipment had a part to play in this.

In my case, I made sure all of the following were up to date:

    Time Capsule

    Apple TV

    Mac Mini (OSX)

    iTunes

    IOS

I did not have the 'darkwake' fix, as in my case it never worked reliably with my collection of equipment.

I'm really pleased Apple got to the bottom of this one, and special thanks to a Senior Tech called Bruce who championed getting this one sorted out.
