why does my iphone 4 not ply music through Sony XDR-DS12iP

Hi all, i bought a Sony XDR-DS12iP Speaker Dock about 2 years ago, worked perfectly. when i connected my old iphone 3G to it and play music, it came out of the dock's speakers.

I now have an iphone 4 and when i connet it to my dock and play music, it still comes out of the iphone speakers, when connected to the dock it still charges but just doesn't play music (this also happens with my son's ipod 4G)

It would be really appreciated if some one could help.

Many Thanks JA

It turns out that the Sony XDR-DS12iP Speaker Dock is only compatiable with the following Apple devices:

ipod mini, ipod 4th generation (and colour display), ipod nano 1st generation, ipod 5th generation, ipod nano 2nd generation, iphone, ipod classic, ipod nano 3rd generation, ipod touch 1st generation, iphone 3G+3GS, ipod nano 4th generation, ipod touch 2nd generation, ipod nano 5th generation.

If your Apple devive is not on this list, i suggest using the Audio In on the back of the dock, this should match up with the headphone jack on the Apple Device.

According to Sony's website it should support it..... I have bought 3 of these and am very unhappy that they have stopped working after I have updated IOS on IPOD (4g) and Iphone 4S devices.
