Here's How: Tap the phone icon from the iPhone's the home screen. Tap the Favorites icon at the bottom left. Click the "plus" icon at the top right to add favorites. This will bring up your full contacts list. Scroll through it or jump to a letter to find the contact you want. When you've found the name, tap it. This will bring up the contact's information, including all their phone numbers. Tap the phone number you want to make a favorite. That name and phone number are now listed in your "Favorites" menu. Next to the person's name is a small note indicating whether the number is work, home, mobile, etc. To rearrange the order of your Favorites, go to the phone app and tap the "Edit" button in the top left. This will bring up a screen with red icons to the left of the favorites and an icon that looks like a small stack of three lines on the right. Tap the three-line icon and hold it. The Favorite you've selected will become active (when active, it appears to be slightly above the other Favorites). Drag the Favorite to the position in the list you want it to have and let it go. Click "done" in the top left and your favorites will be reordered.

I was having the same problem "No + sign at the top right of Favorites" and no "Add to Favorites" in the Contacts or Phone app and then I went in to see how many favorites that I had... ~ 50 and then I thought that maybe there is a limit to the number of favorites that you can have! And started deleting and then the + sign came back and the "Add to Favorites" came back for any contact!! Hope this works for you. 🙂

Ok that's weird. Can you reset your iPhone to see if that clears it. Reset the iPhone by pressing and holding the sleep/wake button and the home button for 10-15 seconds until the Apple logo appears, ignore the red slider. Then turn back on. You won't lose any data doing the reset.

Also have a look at the user guide http://manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/iphone_user_guide.pdf#page48

Ok, let's start again. Go into the Contacts App and find the name of the person you want to add to Favourites. Open their contact card so you see all their details i.e. numbers, e-mails etc. At the bottom of their contacts card you will see a tab that says 'Add to Favourites', tap on the tab and select the number you want i.e. mobile, home etc, it will then ask if you want to add the Favourite as a Voice Call or FaceTime, select the one you want. A blue star will then appear on their contacts card next to the number you've selected. If you now go into your Phone App and tap on Favourites you will see their details.

I'm sure what you mean by a + sign unless you were trying to add a contact to your Contacts app.
