music not syncing with iphone 4s

Hi Guys

I am having a problem syncing my music to my iphone 4s.

Everything else will sync (photos, contract etc) except for the music.

Has anyone else experinced this problem? Any solutions?

Thanks

I am having this exact same problem. I ripped a few CDs and the songs play fine in iTunes but I cannot get them onto my iPhone 4S. I even tried dragging them to the iPhone, but they will not copy. Anyone have a solution for this? It's very frustrating!

ETA: The same ripped songs went onto my iPad (3rd gen) with no problem, so this seems to be isolated to my iPhone. Is it a settings problem?

I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one with this problem. I reset my iPhone 4s recently and since then have been unable to sync music. The same music syncs fine to my iPad2. My phone now has no music at all, although photos etc do sync.

I've been on the phone to Apple Care for hours, and so far they have not helped. I've uninstalled and re- installed iTunes. Nothing helps.

Incidentally, when I connect the phone to iTunes it shows up in the control panel, but the little spinning wheel next to it spins for ages, then I get a message saying that iTunes could not sync and I should re-connect or try again later. I ignore this, then the bar at the top says it is synching, but it doesn't.

Has anyone got any ideas? Perhaps I should try resetting the phone again, but I don't know if that would help.

I notice that the music I bought from iTunes syncs up just fine and everything else will not sync. The tracks show up but are grayed out and won't play. It seems Apple intends to force its customers to buy music through itunes instead of amazon etc. who are cheaper. Or apparently, you can also now sync non-itunes music by purchasing itunes Match at additional cost. I have scoured the internet for a solution to play my ripped cds and Match is the only recourse I found. I feel like this is pretty low and sleazy ethically; I pay for an iphone and then Apple purposely designs it so I cannot play my music unless I re-purchase it from them.

I thought I solved it by deleting the songs in my playlist (you can just uncheck it) , syncing my iPhone, adding the songs back in the playlist (by checking the boxes again), then syncing my iPhone again. The songs are in the playlist, but now there's 2 copies of the songs when I go to Music -> Songs. I deleted some of them manually off the iPhone, but when I sync it, the duplicates come up again. I don't have room on my iPhone for this to happen.
