I'm running Lion on both a mac mini and a MacBook Air. On both machines I get the Remote Desktop Connection quit unexpectedly when I click on the icon. Am I missing something like a parameter that has to be set up first? There's network connectivity for both boxes.
MacBook Air, Mac OS X (10.7.3)
Are both of the computers connected to the network in the same way? (ie both computers by ethernet or both computers by airport)
Have you verified the wirewall is off on both computers?
Have you checked to make sure your software is up to date? (apple menu, check for software update)

Apple. Crashes right after the icon click for both machines and creates a file to send to send to Apple.
I assume "wirewall" is firewall. Yes to all your questions.It's an immediate crash and that's why I suspect I did not set a needed parameter.
OK, thank for clarifying. What version of ARD are you attempting to use?
If you create a new user account; dose the new user account have the same issue?
have you tried using the finder to connect? ie: dock, click on finder, menu bar, go menu, connect to server. vnc://(ip address)
i give that a try.
what ahppened when you tried connect to server with a VNC addres? some times it works better if you do
vnc://user@(ip address) or vnc://user:password@(ip address).
have you conisdered upgrading ARD 3? it's not as expensive as it use to be.

Do note that Microsoft specifically says that Microsoft Remote Desktop Connection client (MRDC) does not work with Mac OS X 10.7 Lion or later.
Paraphrased from their download page for the 2.1.1 version of MRDC:
Note: Microsoft Remote Desktop Connection Client for Mac (version 2.1.1) is not intended for use with Mac OS X v10.7 (Lion) or later.
Sorry for the long delay in responding - for some reason I never saw your reply - but in case you are still following your thread, ARD 2.x will not run under Lion. You need ARD 3.5.x.

I was/am/trying to use Microsoft's RDP. I upgraded 2.0 from the Microsoft site to whatever the newest release is. It stopped crashing but still doesn't work. However the post from pipelineoptika cleared that up.

Rookie mistake on my part. A Microsoft product, RDP, running on an Apple computer. Who would have thought that this board wasn't for that. Live and learn I guess. The Apple phone support had no problem with the question so I guess they aren't concerned about things like that.

That's why it says "Apple Remote Desktop" on the forum and why I asked specifically if you were running Apple Remote Desktop or Microsoft Remote Desktop Connection Client, to verify what it was you were inquiring about. No feathers were ruffled, but it helps if you're explicit as to the software or issue you're asking about so that you don't get inapplicable suggestions.
