Q: Where to find upgrade from iMovie 6.0.3?

I'm on a MacBook running OSX 10.6.8. I have 6.0.3 version of iMovie. I want to upgrade to the highest level that's been tested out,  but aparently I have to do several intermediate steps. I think the next step is 8.0.0 - but I can't find it. I'm trying to upgrade to the top, but is seems I can't "jump" from where I am to there, and when I try to install 8.0.5 or 8.0.6, the system won't allow me.

I'm not very experienced, so really just don't know what to do at this point. I would be very grateful to learn exactly what I need and where to find the download.

Thank you!

The next step is iMovie 9, which is available as part of iLife 11 or from the Mac App Store. iMovie 8 is part of iLife 09 and isn't downloadable.

    Dear ArtistSoulSpeaks,

Apple makes free updaters available for "minor" releases, but only very rarely offers free installers for "major" releases. For example, going from 6.0.2 to 6.0.3 of something is considered a minor release update, but going from 6.0.2 to 7.0 or later is considered a major release, and Apple charges for it.

Minor release updates are generally focused on fixing bugs, while major release upgrades focus on adding significant, new features.

You have iMovie 6.0.3, which was the last minor update of the iLife '06 product.

As Niel indicated in his reply, the current version of iMovie is version 9.0.something-or-other, and it is only available as part of the iLife '11 product or from the Mac App Store.

I hope that helps to clarify things!
