Live tweaking of instrument parameters like resonance, cut off etc

Is it possible to change cut off, resonance etc. of a virtual instrument like the ES2 while playing live, using the knobs and sliders on the midi keyboard or my novation nocturn (without keyboard)? I can't find a learn function in the ES2 window, so I can't assign buttons/sliders to the different parameters.

If this is not possible within Mainstage, can this be done running Logic Studio at the same time? If so, what exactly do I have to do?

Hi

Sure it's possible with Mainstage: There are several options/methods... try this for starters

In Layout mode, create two knob/fader objects. In the Inspector, select each knob in turn and Assign/MIDI Learn to an incoming controller message from your keyboard controller.

In Edit mode, open an ES2 plugin on a channel strip, double click to open the plugin GUI, and (as an example) choose the 'Macro Only' View so that you only have a few parameters to play with.

Select one of your knobs in the Workspace, and in the Inspector below, click the 'Map Parameter button. With the knob still selected, click on one of the controls in the ES2 GUI to map it to the knob. Select the scond knob, and click a second parameter in the ES2 GUI. Turn off the Map Parameter button.

Done

Hi

Mainstage can map most Screen Controls to most parameters of most channels, plugins etc., and also to a variety of MIDI re-mapping or to Mainstage "Actions'.

The method I proposed is one way of assigning Screen Controls to parameters. There are other ways (for example, using the Inspector.

Mainstage 2.2 has a newer method of controller mapping that does not require Screen Controls, alongside the 'older' way.
