I'm from Moldova, my carrier MD moldcell, Ibought the iphone in canada. I don't get any errors it's just always show searching for network, after I've changed the sim a few times it show no service.
P.S. iPhone 3gs 32gb black
Two possibilities.
1 your phone was unlocked before and not anymore.
2 your are one of the victims of similar problem http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4148
thx I'll try this and I made a backup of my latest version and I can.t go back to it..

It says more than just "try again". What, EXACTLY does it say?
and i think that here the guys from apple must change a little the itunes, to give the last updates of the firmwares that work with the iphone you use beacause I thijnk that this firmware it's not so good for 3gs
it says that the activation server is not available try to conect to itunes to activete it, I've connected the phone and in Itunes was written that there is no sim card on iphone , I have tryed to insert it o few times and there was no result
Where EXACTLY did you get this phone? I understand you bought it in Canada, but where? (from whom?)
What carrier are you trying to use? The only supported carrier in Moldova is O2. Try using an O2 SIM.
