Hi - I am trying to access my iTunes songs and movies from my new Samsung HD/3D tv. It connects to the internet via my wifi and so it should be feasible. Has anyone succeded in doing this? I am running 10.6.8.

Your TV will not stream directly from iTunes. You'll need to either cable your laptop/iMac to your TV or buy an Apple TV.

Thanks Dave - probaly a stupid question here but would an Apple Airport Extreme achieve the same end? I guess not but worth a try.
It certainly looks like an Airport Express with airplay would serve in this role. I'm assuming the TV has some facility for audio in. The only thing would be to make sure you didn't have to manually plug and unplug that connection every time in order to get normal audio to work on the TV. Modern TVs are probably more sophisticated in this regard than my 20" CRT TV I got for free in 2006. 🙂

Airport Extreme does not seem to have the airplay functionality.

If you just want to stream music, an Airport Express would work. But the AE won't stream video, and you said you wanted to also stream your movies. For that, you need an Apple TV.

Yes you can from iPad and iPhone. I use Zappo TV th stream my iTunes library to my Samsung Smart TV with AllShare Play and to my Samsung BluRay Surround Sound system.

Gary, that sounds great. Can you give me anymore details or where to trouble shoot this? My allshare play does not recognize itunes music.

Was able to stream my iTunes songs to my samsung tv using my ps3, but lost the playlists.
