My iPod Classic wont turn on

My iPod classic wont turn on, I've tried to leave it connected to the PC for long periods of time and nothing happens the screen stays blank. I have tried everything that is described on the support pages, usual reset with the hold button doesn't work, and i cant do a system restore from iTunes because the iPod doesn't connect to the computer at all (it's as if the iPod is completely dead). At this stage I am thinking it is a battery problem but I am still a bit doubtful as the iPod is only six or so months old. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.
