Macbook Pro Mouse/Trackpad Problems

There are several forums on this matter that might be helpful with a number of remedies. Initially I had this problem about two weeks ago in a coffee shop (cliche) and it freaked me out so I called Apple Support. They were kind enough, although no longer qualifying for phone support, to walk me through a shut down process with all the control-alt-command tricks. One of the first things they asked me to do was to plug my MBP into an outlet. I did not check at the time if that changed the trackpad behavior but I was so distressed that I walked through the reset process after having plugged it in and that fixed the problem (when I am guessing the process wasn't necessary-rather just plugging it would have fixed the issue). Oddly, after two weeks I have had no problems, and at this moment I am sitting in the same spot I was two weeks ago. I opened up my MBP to find that I had the same problem- jumpy erratic trackpad again. I thought it odd that I am in the same location having the same problem. I plugged in my MBP and that solved the problem but when I'd unplug it the problem would return. After reading about another user moving the flourescent lamp on their desk I looked around to see if there were any interfering peripherals. Oddly I happen to be sitting next to the "open" sign at the coffee shop so I unplugged (without the barista flipping out) and the problem ceased. I have read other articles about the problem being related to an external monitor which I have begun using with my MBP but I have never had the problem anywhere else. For me it was the flourescent lamp. Look around and see if you have anything plugged in around you that might be interfereing. You would think Apple would be able to come up with an update for this problem. Hope this helps.
