Q: xsan permissions question

Hi,

We have 5 xsan clients and 2 controllers. One of the servers is also handles network user accounts and permissions. This is a mixed Mac Win environment. We do editing and compositing on Mac, Windows machines are 3D only (no network accounts... just plain Windows 7 boxes)

We have two volumes, one for editors and one for postproduction. Two user groups, "editors" and "post". "Editors" can access just edit volume, "post" group can access all without restrictions.

Posix permissions are root: r&w, wheel: r&w, others: none, ACl permissions are set to groups (works nice). All machines are up to date (both Mac and Win)

Problems

1) I can not preview mov files with a space bar, double click opens quicktime and I can see the movie (presume permissions are fine)

2) Those volumes are also SMB shares. Created a fileshare user that belongs to "post" group.

On windows I can read-write files, delete, create dirs. But Autodesk applications (like Softimage and Max) can not work with those volumes. I can not create project folders from within Softimage, Max also have permission isues.

Any ideas? Second one looks like SMB issue.
