I have recently started using imovie 09 and have created a short 2-3mins video but when I export it to quicktime the quality is really poor. Can someone help? Thanks.

Hi
Two more pieces of info needed.
• Video material - in what codec ( from interlaced SD-video camera or ? )
• What will be the result ? a DVD or published on YouTube or alike ?

The result will just be for a dvd at this point. And I'm not too sure about video material - the footage was from about 5 years ago which was recorded using a video option on a digital camera.
Then as material most probably is not interlaced video (interlaced is best for doing DVDs)
In iMovie - I never use "Share to iDVD" but "Share to Media Browser" and as Large (not HD or other resolution as result will suffer)
In iDVD - in a new project - import from Media button and from Movie's.

Ok so I used the "share to media browser" but the quality was still really poor.
In my imovie events folder the seperate clips that make up the full video are there in perfect quality as AVI (don't know what this is), but when I have put them all together and edited them and try and export them in imovies they look poor. Despite playing about with different exporting methods. Thanks
quality as AVI
.avi is no video codec - but a container and can hold codecs that iMovie can use and some that it can not.
Open it with QuickTime-player and here open Inspector and read Video format/Codec: nnnnn - What does it say ?

ok it says: H.264, 960 x 540, Millions Linear PCM, 16 Bit little-endian, signed integar, 2 channels 48000 HZ
