I have 2 different experiences: my free book did not get pulled when updated, but one of my paid book got pulled for review again after being updated (not immediately). It is still under review after close to a month.

To my current knowledge, when you update a book, it remains in the store as the old verison until Apple approves and uploads the content.  If you have a text edition of your book (not in .ibooks format) I would suggest that you submit it to all three major compaines :

    Amazon

    Nook

    iBookstore

I submitted a text verison of my book to Kindle Direct Publishing two days ago and within one hour, the review process was complete! However, I wish Apple would review the textbooks sooner!

If you want to check out my book, click on the link below.  It is a "Quick Guide" to Rome

Well, after much waiting and anticipation, our first title was approved and went up as a pre-order yesterday. Just to give some indication of review time, we originally uploaded on March 28. Nine days later there was a ticket that we resolved the next day, then Apple continued to review for 24 more days. So, about 30-odd days total.

It is a 800-page book with lots of video and audio content, so perhaps it took longer than average? In any case, excited to finally see it up there for sale.

    Congratulation!

For our side, 2 more bird series books have been approved - Parrots and Crowned Pigeons - in the Children & Teens category.

If you love beautiful bird photos and video, you can take a look.

The unfortunate thing is that Children & Teens seems very crowded, Not easy to find a book.

Found my book in the store.

Yes, it's a paid book, but I would be happy to share a promotional code or give a link to a download for anyone who doesn't want to pay. I'm not expecting to make a lot of money, but felt like it was a non-trival work worthy of a few bucks.

I current have 6 US$0.99 books that you can check out, if you love animals and birds!

    Lion: http://itunes.apple.com/book/lion/id509877681

    Zebra: http://itunes.apple.com/book/zebra/id509882050

    Cranes: http://itunes.apple.com/book/cranes/id509408904

    Parrots: http://itunes.apple.com/book/parrots/id509489117

    Pelicans: http://itunes.apple.com/book/pelicans/id509402233

    Crowned Pigeons: http://itunes.apple.com/book/crowned-pigeons/id509495061

I was wondering whether is there a way to have a group of iBooks grouped together in iBookstore so that I only have to show 1 link! The author page shows too many books since I have different series of books.

Is there any correlation between the length and complexity of a book and  how long it takes the book to be published? Some of limitc's are short (and beautifully illustrated) while  others are much longer and have lot's more interactives. HeySkippy, I have just bought your book and look forward to retracing your footsteps, vicariously at least. It is 200 pages and has lots of illustrations--does that correlate with how long it takes to publication?

    Jim.

My first about 20 pages long free ebook is under review for one month now. Let's see when it gets approved. That long lead time is actually very irritating... :-(

Mine is only 36 pages long and the process has taken more than two months so far. Not ideal.

Wow, reading about these wait times I now feel luckier. Our book is approximately 800 pages, with 12 chapters, over 1,000 images, plenty of galleries and nearly one hour of HD video and audio. It took nine days for a ticket to be issued (for some reason, the text on our copyright page disappeared in landscape view). Then, once we fixed and re-uploaded the asset (which we did within 24 hours), it then took another 25 days to get the green-light.

It's called Crystal Lake Memories: The Complete History of Friday the 13th and is up for pre-order now in the bookstore (street date is next week):

    http://itunes.apple.com/us/book/crystal-lake-memories-complete/id506323412?mt=11

I assumed that ours was taking longer than normal as it is such a large book. But if a 36-page book is taking over two months, then I really have no idea what the review process entails.

This is really mystifying. My book is about 70 pages with  images and interactives but not that many. I'm not even sure what Apple is looking for in the review process. Is it just to see whether everything works, or are they also considering the overall quality of the book. That is, all the interactives could work but the book could still have typos and be less-than-optimally laid out--would Apple reject it on that basis? What experience have people had with Apple's reasons. I have been waiting for 3+ weeks with no feedback. I hate to think about waiting another month or more. My books is about extreme weather which is a fast moving subject--it already needs major revision!

You folks that have been waiting a long time with no communication, are you certain that there isn't an error listed? When you go to iTunes Connect > Manage Your Books and see the red dot under the cover picture, have you clicked on the text listing the number of stores and then the link for details?

I only ask because it took me a few days to find that spot and discover there was a metadata problem I needed to clear up. It didn't tell me what the problem exactly was, so I used the Contact form and sent an inquiry. I got an emailed answer within a couple days, fixed and reuploaded, then repsonded to the email telling them I had done so.  I got an email answer back telling me it should take 10 days and on the 10th day, the metadata error went away and was replaced by an error with the cover (author listed on the cover wasn't the same as author listed in the metadata). This time a ticket was opened for me. I fixed and uploaded just a screenshot of the cover and got about a thousand errors and I didn't think it worked, but the error listed in iTunes changed to indicate they had received the cover. It took another week and then one day my ticket was closed and the only thing listed was "Under Review". Another 10 days or so and I got the green light.
