I have updated three or four times, most recently on April 28th, but it still shows

    Last Imported : Mar 12, 2012

I have given up worrying about it.

    Apple ID : ....................
    ISBN : ....................
    Last Imported : Feb 24, 2012

That "Last Imported" is what scares me. That's what it has always said regardless of the new versions I sent, and Apple still tells me in each ticker the "original probelm is still there, nothing has changed, sorry 'bout yer luck, see you in another 40 days for the same message."

Sounds like a labeling error. It should read "First imported" instead.

I agree. But no way to tell and I just don't trust anything here anymore on their site. It's time to get teh show on the road and my patience with customer no-service from Apple has been exhausted.

I am going to re-submit the book with the new file and a new ISBN number to make 100% sure nothing in there but the latest file.

I think you just replaced the book. It will be the latest file - don't waste an ISDN number.

I have a book that just got approved today. The 2 months wait is quite a ridiculous process (which I can't think of a better word). The book is Asian Reptiles: http://itunes.apple.com/book/id508007547

Initially when I submitted the book with other animal books, all others got accepted except this book, which the ticket said something like it got issues displaying. We go "huh?" and review the whole thing again, using 2 different iPads (one with Retina display), and everything works fine. So we export it again and resubmitted.

A month later we got same ticket again saying that the issue was not solved... so we go "huh?" and review the whole thing again, and send Apple an email asking for explanation. And we did got a letter - asking us to read the ticket explanation! OK, so we export it again and resubmitted.

And today the book was approved... the same book we submitted 2 months ago.

It's a joy to watch this process in operation…

Are you sure that what you re-submitted was identical to what was there in the first place, or did you make any changes (major or minor)?

The only "changes" is the export. First upload is based on iBooks Author 1.0, first reupload is based on 1.1, and the 2nd reupload is the same.

I can understand why first time got rejected - perhaps they were reviewing the books exported in 1.0 but iBooks have changed. But 2nd time I don't understand.

Anyway, as mentioned, I have already given up the whole thing - I still got 10 more books to be approved - and now working entirely in App Store. So far I already got 7 apps approved there, average 1 week approval (and reapproval) process. The process is relatively consistent, and they informed me everything along the way (waiting for review, in review, prepared for store, ready for sale) and I got notification.

Yay, my book is finally in the iBook Store! I submitted my book on April 12th 2012. I did not get any tickets via Apple or anything like that. Finally today I emailed Apple asking why my book was taking so long to process. I got a response saying when it's done for review it'll be in the store within 24hrs. I emailed them again asking if I could get an estimate of how far I am in line. They gave me a cookie cutter response...

But as of checking now, at 8:45 PM my book is in the store!

My book is 'Steve's How To Draw Fun Animals', it didn't come up in the search just yet, but hopefully it will soon.

I'm very excited! I hope all of your books appear soon!

I'm happy for you. Congratulations, it looks like you have hit the jackpot.

Unfortunately that seems to be exactly how the approval process is run there at Apple. Just plain random luck. There is no consistency with the wait time, email responses or ticketing - a complete disaster run by incompetent idiots. Sorry but that is the tone down version of my frustration/ anger right now.

It seems that the situation is getting from bad to worse. Maybe the guy/team who was in charge to set up the operation underestimated the demand. Maybe they didn't watch Tim Cook's presentation where he sold it like the next big thing. With that built up hype, you don't put just two proof reading guys in the basement in charge of the incoming flood of book applications. Don't get me even started on the non-existing email notification.

Shouldn't it be clear after a few weeks that this operation was ill equipped in every possible way? But after three month it doesn't seem they corrected anything. It seems that the same incompetent guy/team in charge hasn't been transferred to the MobileMe 2.0 team or sent to Redmond to revive the glory days of Vista.

If, after 3 month, my book is still under review what does that say about the wait time for new submissions? On top of that. If one of my books was approved and in the store, just to get yanked of after a day because they found another Amazon link. Does that mean that instead of working on the huge backlog, they just get bored and re-read approved books to see if they can find any (overlooked) damaging links to a competitor's website that could bring down their $100 billion empire.

A complete chaos operation run by incompetence and paranoia -  and no end in sight.

I agree with you, it's just random luck and no consistency... hopefully they are working hard to get on top of things.

By the way I forgot to post a link to my book, it's my 'Steve's How to Draw Fun Animals' book which I think is quite fun. I'm pretty excited about it finally being in the store. It's a how-to-draw book aimed towards children, but I think anyone can have fun with it.

    Good luck to you all!

Things are looking better on our side - after 2 months wait - Apple suddenly approved 5 books today of ours (Sing to Learn English).

Not sure we care anymore. We are in the process of converting them to apps.

Nothing at all apparently, because there are books that are approved within a week or two of submission. There doesn't seem to be any concept of "first come, first served".

I just got another 2 more books approved today - make it a total of 7 within a day!

They are definitely trying to clear the backlog. Which is good news for everybody.
