remember, that if you use iBooks Author, you're bound by the EULA agreement and can't sell your textbook to Kindle or Nook

Could you point me at the relevant section of the EULA for this? This doesn't line up with my understanding.

    Michi.

You can sell a text version (i.e. ePub) on Kindle and Nook--but it MUST be for FREE.  As for the speicific section--it's section B.

    Section B:

    i

    iii

    Hope that helps!

Your contract must differ from mine. Mine doesn't have a section B at all. It has sections 1-19 and exhibits A-G.

What type of contract is this? For textbooks? Mine is for ordinary paid-for books.

The contract I have is non-exclusive, so I can sell the same book on Kindle, for examle. There are a few other clauses qualifying this, but they are entire reasonable, basically saying that I can't discriminate against Apple.

    Cheers,

    Michi.

huh...?  To my current knowledge, iBooks Author made books can't be sold to Kindle or Nook (additionally, I'm not even sure if they would accept the .iBooks file).   Alright, but I believe this is simply the iBooks Author EULA agreement.  Sorry for confusing you (I'm also somewhat perplexed)!!

P.s.- This is not a contract within iTunes Connect.  See this. Hope it helps!!!!

My apologies for the confusion: you were talking about the IBA EULA, while I was talking about the publishing contract, which are two different things. I should have read your post more carefully, sorry.

You are right, you can't take a book produced with IBA in ibooks format and publish it elsewhere. (Besides, that format won't run anywhere else anyway.) However, you can take you IBA book with identical content and retarget it for the Kindle, no problem. Apple have the distribution right to the .ibooks version, not the content of the book.

    Michi.

My Photography free ebook was accepted in less than 24 hours yesterday!.

Do you know how to update the book itself if I need to fix something?

Take a look and tell me if you like it, please, feel free to review or rate it if you want, that would help me also:

Nice book--just gave you a 5 star rating--I love photography!!    If you need to update your book, simply export the file using iBooks Author and resend the package via iTunes Producer.  It's really easy (and my updates have gone through in less than 3 hours--that's even faster than Kindle!!!!

I also created a free portfolio book. I uploaded it to itunes connect a few weeks ago (I would say almost 20 days now). No news yet

Why the **** is it taking so long ? Reminds me of the stupid Mac AppStore system, that takes weeks for developpers to get their updates online.

    It is crazy !

I might switch to another system if it does not get online faster

I understand your frustration.  Way back in February and March, we had massive issues and it took months for books to be published.  I would suggest emailing the iBookstore team at ibookstore@apple.com

They would be the best people to speak with as you can further explain your issue to them.

    Regards,

So I realize this thread is old, but I wanted to chime in...

My 10-year old daughter fiinally finished her first book, "A Cat’s Life: The Move" (availablefor free).  I have no clue how long it will take to appear in the store, but I have bookmarked this thread, and I will update once the book has finally been approved and appears in the store.  Needless to say my daughter...riddled with excitement and anticipation...is not pleased with the waiting process...

    Hello All,

I am curious to know how soon after you get the green light from Apple are you able to search via author's name or book title for the book on iBooks?

My book is officially in store but I cannot seem to find it via a search. I was just approved this afternoon.

    Thanks!

    Dani
