Q: Problem activating Imessage and Face Time

Unable to activate Imessage and Face Time. Message comes up: Could not sign in. Please check your network connection and try again". Although facebook, itunes works ok. Can anyone help me please?

iPod touch, iOS 5.0.1

Yes, we just can't seem to activate either facetime or imessage
