Feb 14, 2012 5:35 PM in response to DRobichaudby Jan Hedlund,Hi,
First of all, carry out the print head cleaning and test page printing procedures described in the manual (pp 63-64).

If this does not work, you may want to try holding a piece of cloth moistened with warm water against the print head. There are special third-party print head cleaning liquids available for difficult cases. It is also possible to refill dry ink tanks through the use of appropriate ink kits.

Feb 14, 2012 9:47 PM in response to DRobichaudby Jeff,If you purchased an Apple-branded ink cartridge for your 2400, that's probably the source of your problem. It's undoubtedly "new" old stock, because Apple hasn't marketed/sold replacement ink cartridges/tanks for the Color StyleWriter 2400/2500s in years. The hazard of buying "old" ink is that there is a shelf life, even when the cartridge/tank has remained sealed in the foil pouch. Canon manufactured that printer for Apple, and its hardware design mirrored Canon's Color Bubble Jet 4000, 4100, 4200, 4300, 4400, and 4550. I'd recommend purchasing ink for the Canon printer, as it may be newer; however, keep in mind that these printers are more than 16 years-old now, so even replacement inks for the Canon models are not exactly in demand. This creates an inventory that can remain unsold for months (or years). I owned (3) of the CSW 2400s, but finally pulled the plug on them because of a Canon design flaw in the printed circuit board found on the side of the cartridge. On more than one occasion, I had a nearly-full tank stop working because of a defective board. The error message generated was something to the effect that the ink cartridge was either not installed properly or was missing. Neither was the case, so after wasting too much $$ on Canon inks, I decided to go with the Epson Stylus Color 740 and 900 printers and never looked back. Ink jet printer technology had improved considerably since the 2400/2500 printers, so there was no comparison between them and the Epson models.
