Feb 14, 2012 7:39 PM in response to Kujakoby OldFozzie,Not really sure. Up until now I have only tried FaceTime with a Logitech C910 camera which was a mistake. I have assumed that if a camera works with one Mac app it will work with others but I stand to be corrected. To clarify my question I am interested in a camera/microphone combination.
Thanks

Feb 14, 2012 7:48 PM in response to Grant Bennet-Alderby OldFozzie,Thanks Grant:
I looked at that site which features a lot of Logitech cameras and seems to recommend the one I have sent back. The camera had lots of features for the Windows user but really no adjustments for Mac users. It also didn't perform well with intermittent microphone performance.
What I am interested in a camera/mic combination that has been produced for the Mac user.
Thanks for your direction.

Feb 15, 2012 5:10 AM in response to OldFozzieby Grant Bennet-Alder,Were you running the Logitech C910 directly plugged into the Mac chassis, to assure that you were giving it a USB 2.0-speed channel?
The ports on a display or Hub may or may not be USB 2.0. And the keyboard USB is not available for ANY USB devices except ONE low-power mouse across BOTH keyboard jacks.

Feb 15, 2012 5:40 AM in response to Grant Bennet-Alderby The hatter,One of the feedback's on Amazon says it does work with Lion - I went to Skype: Accessories to see what they have.
Logitech HD Pro Webcam C910 (Personal Computers) This camera DOES work with OSX. Yes, OSX Lion. I'll go one better than that. It works with Lion Server as well. It works with Skype, Photo Booth, Facetime, etc. There is Logitech software for the Mac, but A) I don't think you actually need it for anything, certainly not for drivers, and B) it doesn't seem to be very good software. But the quality of the image on this camera is great. I believe people who experience slow speeds using this camera at high resolutions are having issues with their computers being too slow, or with their internet connection not being able to handle the flow of data. And since I've spent 15 years in IT, that's a relatively well qualified opinion. In short: This camera rocks, and if you have a Mac Mini and didn't throw down the extra $1000 for an Apple display, this will work, you don't need a more expensive "Mac Only" camera.
Logitech HD Pro Webcam C910 (Personal Computers) The lack of good Mac support software from Logitech is legendary. There support for the PC is better but I haven't made a detailed evaluation. Fortunately for Mac users, help is available from a 3rd party vendor. A little background might help. I wanted to buy a webcam to use with my big screen TV/Mac Mini for Skype sessions with the grandkids. Yes, I could use my MacBook Pro which has everything built-in, but I wanted something a little more like having a real conversation. After looking around various blogs and forums, the best camera seemed to be the Logitech C910.
This camera is also available at Apple stores which to me is an implied endorsement. I ended up purchasing the camera from Amazon because they had better pricing and I am trying to narrow my purchases to fewer vendors. There are lots of reviews on the web about picture quality for the C910 so I won't repeat them, except to say picture quality is GREAT.
The camera worked right out of the box with all my Macs because of the built-in UVC drivers in OS X. I DID NOT INSTALL THE SOFTWARE PROVIDED BY LOGITECH ON THE ENCLOSED CD.

Feb 15, 2012 12:33 PM in response to The hatterby OldFozzie,To Grant and Hatter:
Thanks for your responses.
I ordered the C910 camera becasue it was supposed to be Mac compatible and I guess it was to a certain extent.
I plugged camera into the USB on the rear of my Cinema Display and it worked immediately except the Hue of the picture was way off. I unplugged it and plugged it in to the front USB ports on the Mac Pro and got the same thing. I started to look for white balancing controls and found it has a feature called Right Light but only available for Windows users. I searched around for forums which may address this issue. In the meantime I started using FaceTime to talk with my kids and grandchildren. Each session would work initially then my microphone seemed to stop working. My kids couldn't hear me. This same happened with both my children.
So I wrote to customer support and explained my problems. Here is what I got back:

That response coupled with very similar experiences from Mac users on the Logitech forums just turned me off. I feel bad because the camera seemed to be built well and had there been a way to white balance it and had the microphone worked properly I would have been happy.
Anyway the camera has been returned and I am looking for a new camera. Thank you all for your input.
