How do I sync just one app from my iTunes to my iPhone?

I am fairly new to all of the iPhone stuff, however, my daughter has an iPod Touch, in which we have created an iTunes account. I want to sync just one app to my iPhone without syncing all of the apps that she has purchased.

Select the one app under the Apps tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes followed by a sync.

Unless all apps on your iPhone are in your iTunes library on your computer which is a good place for them to be, this will remove all other apps from your iPhone. If all apps on your iPhone are in your iTunes library, select the one additonal app under the Apps tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes followed by a sync.

I'm having the same problem. Syncing the entire iTunes app library seems to be the only way of getting apps downloaded through iTunes onto your device.

With this method, the list of apps that is populated in iTunes seems to be a list of every single app ever downloaded on that device, regardless of whether it is still on the device or not.

The problem with syncing the way you (Allan Sampson) suggest is that you have to know all the exisiting apps on your device, so you dont accidentally delete them. Also, you need to know what apps aren't on your device so you don't accidentally put them back on.

Surely there must be a way to drag a single specific app downloaded through iTunes onto your device, without having to replace your entire app library with the iTunes library? If there isn't a way to do this, then apple needs to develop a way.

The list of apps in iTunes on your computer (when selecting Apps under Library in the iTunes source list) is all apps that are in your iTunes library on your computer.

Under the Apps tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes, you see the list of apps that are in your iTunes library, and the apps that are installed on your iPhone. You can also see every home screen on the iPhone where apps installed on the iPhone are located. The apps that are in your iTunes library and not installed on your iPhone have INSTALL next to the apps. The apps that are installed on your iPhone have REMOVE next to the app.

You (SanjoAA) don't know what you are talking about.

You're right, I feel like Jon Snow, I know nothing!

I just tried it again and it has all the apps I have on my phone selected with where they are on my home screens. I can just drag the individual app I've downloaded onto my home screen and click apply.

Before when I tried it, I had loads of apps I'd previously removed all selected and on my home screen in random orders. I think it may have something to do with automatically syncing when the iPhone is tethered and/or transferring purchases, but I'm not sure.

I didn't mean to be rude to you (Allan Sampson ... lol) with my last comment, but re-reading that message it does sound a bit rude. I was just trying to put across the problem I was having and ask again if a single app could be synced without affecting the other apps.

It's worked for me now though so thanks for your help.
