This seems like a ridiculous question, but I can't seem to make the download work.
I'm trying to download iBooks Author. I'm asked what app I want to use to open it. I have no idea. I thought it was an app. I tried choosing iTunes and I was taken to iTunes, but nothing happened regarding "iBooks Author."
Mac mini (Mid 2010), Mac OS X (10.7.3), Also have iPad2 and iPhone3
In the (Mac) App Store, when viewing iBooks Author, does it say 'Installed'...?

Now you are in the iTunes App Store
Click on the Install button.
Okay, you've already done all this and it isn't woking. Is that what's happening?
If it says 'Installed' iBA should be in your 'Applications' folder. Double click to run, as usual.
If it's there and doesn't run...speak up.
If it's not there and the store says it is installed, hold down on the option key and see if 'Installed' changes back to 'Download', then repeat the process.
It does not say "installed." It says "view in mac app store." When I click that, the popup wants me to choose an application to run it. I have tried iTunes and Launchpad. Nothing happens. I have searched my mac for "iBooks Author." I have also looked through all my applications and utilities. It really does not seem to be here.
iBooks Author is only available via the (Mac) App Store from OS X. There would be no prompt to open with anything. It doesn't sound like you're used that right process... Nothing to do with iTunes.

Are you talking about iBooks 2 instead?
Do you have the icon for the Mac App Store in your dock or in your Applications folder? It is a blue circle with a white A. It sounds like you may not have this.
