27" iMac - Color Calibration - Fault/Failure

Howdy to All,

Earlier today I had the LED Panel replaced in my 27" iMac (Applecare Warranty) due to a screen discoloration

that had appeared around the Optical Disk area of the screen.

The replacement LED has resolved that issue.

However, (and I don't know if this is due to the new LED installation) I now find that I cannot 'color calibrate'

the new screen.

On opening Display Preferences/Color, there are three display profiles listed;

• iMac

• iMac 27 Calibrated

• My 27 iMac Calibrated.

On selecting any of the above and clicking the 'Open Profile' button - I'm given this message;

Unable to determine file format.

The file "/Library/ColorSync/Profiles/Displays/iMac-00000610-0000-9CB5-0000-000004272D40 .

icc" does not appear to be compressed or encoded.

It is advised that you obtain further information about the contents of this file from the sender or provider of the file.

On selecting the 'Calibrate' button - I'm given the message;

Can not calibrate the display

The factory profile for the display could not be found.

Can someone please help me ? (really need a fix - urgently)

Me again,

I have just downloaded and installed the Mac OS X 10.7.3 (combo) thinking that this problem

was a software issue... and the uodate may reset or fix things.

Alas, the update made no difference... and so, I'm still unable to Calibrate the 27" iMac Display

All help and assistance most appreciated.

Howdy,

As a last resort, I performed a 'repair disk permissions' on the 27" iMac....

That process has appeared to fix the first part of my issues; the inability to 'Open Profile'

Therefore.... all profiles can be opened now.

However, the main issue remains;

On selecting the 'Calibrate' button - I'm given the error message;

"Can not calibrate the display

The factory profile for the display could not be found."

Can someone please help me.....

a) What is the said factory profile ?

b) How do I find and reinstate it ?

Hey, I also had my 2010 imac 27 screen replaced (because of dust behind the lcd. I cannot calibrate my screen any more. Doesn' matter what calibration I check off in the "color" pain, the main screen doesn't change. That being said, I can switch to any calibration (even one I've made with my spyder 3 elite) within Apple Aperture. What gives? have you had any success as of yet? I've tried trashing preference styles, and even tried to revert back to os 10.6 to reinstall 10.8.2 but 10.6 wouldn't accept my password to gain access!

I don't get the "can not calirate the display" warning at all. I do get a warning from my spyder that it cannot install, but the apple calibrator lets me save a setting but it makes no difference when I click on any setting within the control panel for monitors.

Very frustrating. At least I'm not the only one.

Finally got a resolution to this problem.......😀

I updated to Mavericks (10.9) 🙂
