ical freezing

I've never had this before. My iCal program is freezing on my laptop - the spinning pizza of death comes up and doesn't leave. I have to force quit. I tried doing a system utilities repair. That didn't help. Did a software update. Restarted my mac. Nothing. I can't think of anything that happened from yesterday and today that may have caused this problem. Any ideas?
