Difference between Normal Boot and Safe Boot

I have a MacBook Early 2008 with Lion 10.7.3, this machine ran perfectly with Snow Leopard, did not have any kind of problem.

Since i installed Lion the problems started, begin with WiFi drop problem that i solved installed SL driver (IO80211Family.kext), and the MacBook Freeze sometimes after start up, looking for a solution when i start in Safe Boot Mode (Shift key + Command + v) computer run perfectly, i have standar software with last versions (Office 2011, Vmware and Adobe Photoshop Elements 9) with a HP and Dell Printers. What is the difference between Normal and Safe Boot in order to try to find the source of problem?

Thanks in advance

See Safe Mode which explains what is disabled in safe mode. This should provide a starting point for determing the problem. It very well could be associated with the VM Fusion software. You might consider uninstalling it to see if it solves the problem. Otherwise, you may need to look at any other third-party software that installs drivers in the /System/Library/Extensions/ folder or the use of incompatible software.
