Early 2011 Macbook Pro vs. Late 2011 Macbook Pro memory compatibility
I'm trying to upgrade my memory on my computer, does the early 2011 macbook pro use the same memory as the late 2011 macbook pro?

Both include the same amount of memory (4 GB) and can be upgraded to 8 GB. And the actual memory should not be changed, because both use the 1333 MHz PC3-10600 DDR3 SDRAM model.
Yep.
Actually up to 16GB's of 1333MHZ .
Yes it is the same spec. PC-10600, 1333mHz DDR-3 RAM.
Yes. Basically they are the same. I think the chipset got updated, slightly, and the CPUs were changed to the most current Intel models.
As far as memory they both use the exact same type and speed.
If you go to Crucial.com and do 2 separate memory searchs, one for the early and on for the late, it will show you the exact same memory
I came across this post researching for memory upgrade. I have an Early 2011 13" with i7 2.7 ghz. MacBook Pro 8,1.
You say up to 16 GB. Are you sure that will work? According to this (About 1/3 of the way down), it's only up to 8 GB, but I guess it could mean 8 GB per slot.
Thanks in advance.
No it mean 8GB total but that is because Apple never tested it with 16GBs. When the newer Intel chipsets came out there was NO 8GBs Per memory card SODIMs so there was No way to test the 2011 and later models with 16GBs installed. Apple has since not bothered to test any of them, even some of the newer models, with 16GBs but yet they offer 16GBs in the retina model and that model uses the same Intel Chipset as the Non retina and very close to what came in the 2011 models.
I know for a fact 16GBs work as I have that much installed in my Dell E6420 that uses the Exact Same Intel Chipset as a 2011 Macbook Pro.
