I have installed a Pioneer BDR-206DBK Blu-ray drive in the second bay of my 2008 Mac Pro and all is working fine under Lion, however when in Bootcamp Windows 7 64bit it is not recognized.
Any ideas? I have reinstalled Bootcamp drivers etc to no avail.

I have exactly the same problem with a new BDR-206MBK.
Works perfect under Lion on Mac Pro but not seen under Bootcamp Win7.

If you are running Windows then you should see if Pioneer has a Windows driver, not Apple, not Boot Camp Apple driver.
Probably not a driver issue as I found some other posts that say that the SATA ports on the Mac Pro board will not be seen by Windows, at least not when using it with Bootcamp, so will try and get a cable to hook it up in one of the "normal" SATA ports. Good idea?
The "ODD" ports, yes, they will not, that was pre-2008 and "extra" SATA ports.
I don't think that carried into 2008 which uses SATA for optical drive bays but lacks the 2 'extra' s

No reason the normal sata ports should not work for a burner I hope...
Otherwise will an esata pcie card be seen

Not really sure what you mean but my drive works perfect 100% of the time 🙂
I have seen one report of someone enabling the ODD ports in 5 yrs.
Others complain that all the SATA ports are not using AHCI.
For a BR just getting it to work seemed like the only thing wanted.
And in looking through Intel motherboard drivers never had success.

This should be really something for another thread perhaps so I'll keep it brief. If you have ever left the Mac unattended for a longish period, (like overnight), and have energy saver set to sleep the drive when possible, then I'm interested to find out more about your set up.
Don't alter any settings if things are good for you.

Is it possible to hook up the BR burner to one of the four drive sata ports?
If so, what sort of connector would one need? I am new to all this DIY stuff
and I can't seem to google what cable I would need to connect the BDR to
the sata drive bay in my Mac Pro.
