Windows in Lion

I was on 10.5.8, whatever cat that was, and am now on Lion 10.7.3, and I HATE the new windows. I am used to open a folder, a window pops up, the frame of which had at the bottom a very relevant set of info: When you marked the files in the window, all or some of them, you knew how many items were in the folder. What happened to that. Now I have to count the items one by one.

Why do they keep fixing things that aren’t broken?
