smtp settings

SMTP (outgoing mail server) information:

• Server name: smtp.mail.me.com
• SSL Required: Yes
• Port: 587
• SMTP Authentication Required: Yes
• Username: example@me.com (use your @me.com address from your iCloud account)
• Password: Your iCloud password

In case you need it:

IMAP (Incoming Mail Server) information:

• Server name: imap.mail.me.com
• SSL Required: Yes
• Port: 993
• Username: example@me.com (use your @me.com address from your iCloud account)
• Password: Your iCloud password

I have just moved all my mail to iCloud. I have used the Eudora email program in a Win 7 partition on my iMac. When I try to configure Eudora for my iCloud email address, it asks for an smtp address. So I followed your advice and received the follwing message in Eudora:

Mail from <smtp.me.com). And then the SMTP server [SMTP.mail.me.com] said 530 5.7.0 no AUTH command has been given.

Any other thoughts?

Have you set SSL to 'on' and set the correct port (587)?

Yes to your last post. But discovered that I had set the server to POP, not IMAP.

When I clicked on OK, got the message

It appears obvious that "imap.mail.me.com" is not the correct

"IMAP Mailbox Location Prefix"! What is?

imap.mail.me.com is the correct server setting for incoming mail but you need to enable SSL. The setting for smtp is smtp.mail.me.com, again SSL required.

Am still getting the previous error msg. Below are the relevant setup option screens from Eudora. They are the same settings I use on the iMac. Please let me know if you can see anything obvious.

There is nowhere visible to set the port number for incoming mail (993) - this may set itself automatically; is there a further setting for SSL? What does the 'Last SSL Info' button do?

Tried it again with the "IMAP Mailbox Locateon Prefix ... empty." Same error message.

"Secure Sockets when Receiving" must be "Required, Alternate Port"

As to SMTP settings, you had the wrong server name (here, not in Eudora forum,

where your thread is about the IMAP side).
