Transfer landline to iPhone 4s and phone no longer works

When I transfer my landline to my iPhone 4s, the iPhone completely quits working. It will not make calls (call failed) it will not allow incoming calls (goes to voicemail) and the Internet does not work. I have full bars and 3G is displayed at the top, although has went to E sometimes. Oddly, the landline was transferred to the iPhone 4s and it also disabled the other Iphone 4s that is on the account. We restored the iPhone it was transferred to and both phones started working. We tried to transfer the landline again and the same thing happened again to both phones. One phone is on version 9A405 and one was just upgraded in restore to 9A406. PLEASE HELP!!!!!

You need to contact your carrier. Your devices are fine.

We have transferred this landline hundreds of times to our iPhones and never had any issues. Thinking it could be a glitch in iOS????? The biggest mystery is that it impacted both iPhones and not just the one on the transferring end...but both iPhones are on the same account. It seems as if the phone may be switching to Edge and not back to 3G when the landline is initially tranferred. Could it be going to Edge and we not have coverage here? I'm not really clear on the Edge/3G thing though!!!

Another piece of info....we transferred our landline to our other cell phone which is not an iPhone and didn't have any problems.

Edge and 3G deals with your data services, not the phone services.

AT&T finally notified us that the issue is with their tower. There is currently no service in downtown Belleville, Illinois, and won't be until a part is received and installed on Thursday. Hard to believe, but true! I guess it can happen anywhere at anytime! It was just a coincidence that it occurred near when we transferred our landline to the iPhone. Oh, and the other thing...it is impacting iPhones, but not other "regular" phones. I'm not sure about other smart phones (Blackberry, etc.)
