I face the same problem with my MacBook Pro.
For me, a restart fixed the issue.
Restarting the computer did not work what else can i do?

Use Klaus's suggestion: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2090
Typically this means another process is using the camera.
First, check that it is not a hardware problem: Go to System Profiler > Hardware > USB and make sure that the Built-in camera is listed in the USB device tree.
Second, in Terminal.app enter the command
sudo killall VDCAssistant
which should stop any other processes that are using the camera, freeing it up to be used by Facetime. The camera on my Imac does not work it says "There is no connected camera" and there is one built in.
