Why do my calendar events get deleted from my iphone while I'm viewing the calendar?

I my work schedule in the calendar on my iPhone4S (iOS 5.0.1) earlier today. While trying to review when I work, I saw all 5 calendar events get deleted. There are no longer any events on the days that I added work to my calendar. Anyone else experience this and know how to fix it or recover the events? This is the second time my work schedule has been deleted right in front of my face on my phone.

randers4, thank you very much for your simple and easy fix.

I recently found I was missing all my past events, except for auto-populated birthdays from my Facebook, and it was quite upsetting.

I followed your simple instructions, under "Settings", "Calendars", "Sync", selected "All Events" rather than a set length of time, and VOILA!! All my past events magically re-appeared.

Having said all that, I'm still keeping a pocket calendar in my purse. :-) I don't trust technology.

Thanks again for your suggestion.

Hi all, I've been on to apple support for a while, but not sure if anyone on here knows how to get me out of trouble. I had a situation where events that were entered into my iPhone didn't 'synch' to my outlook account online and hence weren't showing in my outlook on PC. So I had a load of appointments that were solely 'saved' on my iPhone. I realised this morning that this had been going on for a few weeks (I'd been using my phone to update diary exclusively while not in my office). This is obviously the opposite type of problem, in that the appointments were on the phone but not on a web based account etc. All the appointments disappeared as they were 'Hidden' and then 'unhidden' in the calendar app (during a chat with apple support to try and get them moving across to outlook again). So now I don't have any appointments either on phone or in outlook etc. It is driving me insane. Anyone got any ideas?

I have a variation of this problem that is driving me crazy! I routinely sync events from my iPhone 5, OS 9.01, to Yahoo Calendar (I know, I should leave for Gmail, but I've been on Yahoo forever). Because I use my iPhone calendar as a "diary," I have always set the sync function to "All Events"; and up until a couple of years ago, maybe a little less, that worked: I could look all the way back to the 90's and see events, both in Yahoo and on the phone. But about that time, the iPhone stopped syncing all the way back: It will only sync for six months back, to Yahoo. If I create an event on my phone for Yahoo that's older than that, right now, it will appear briefly on the phone, then disappear--but I can see it on the Yahoo Calendar on my PC.

An hour ago, searching Yahoo Help, under Sync Yahoo Calendar and Yahoo Contacts with iOS devices I came across this information, and I wonder: does this account for it? Here it is: It's only possible to sync Yahoo Calendar events from the last 6 months, and those up to one year in the future. Events outside of these time frames won't be synced to your device.

So, does this mean that the problem is not with the phone, but with Yahoo? If anyone knows, save my sanity--please!

Unfortunately, I think you're right, and I just found this out as well, after quite a bout of frustration. I just got my "scheduled holidays" from my employer & as I normally do-in put them all in my iPhone calendar.. Well, as soon as I got past todays date, but next year, the events would disappear after I input them! It was driving me crazy trying to figure out what was going on. I then discovered the events, plus all my test events, were indeed in the calendar when I logged in via the web app. They just weren't syncing with my iPhone. So after doing some digging, I also found the statement you noted. This MUST be a new thing. Reason I say that is that there are other events on my calendar that I had put in some time ago, but they are still there, even though they are more than a year in the future. So they must have made this change recently, but grandfathered any existing events.

So-I would encourage you to voice your displeasure with this to Yahoo. I did via the "was this helpful" feedback section of the page where the sync statement is. I outlined it via the "other" tab. This is a real pain, especially for folks that plan well ahead for vacations, etc.

I was frustrated by this earlier in the year and assumed it was because of updates or updating devices. When I needed to check back on a date today I realised dates prior to 1 month had disappeared. I saw and followed the advice on the forum. See below:

Go to Settings...Mail, Contacts, Calenders

Go to Calendars section and scroll down to 'sync'

There you can set to 2 weeks, 1 month, 3 months, 6 months or All as preferred

i tried this and selected ' all' And all previous activities were retrieved from iCloud and were again visible.

thankyou so much.

I see this is an old post, but I have a similar problem when I add an event to my calendar on Macbook running 10.9.5 (I reverted to 10.9 when I installed 10.10 and it bricked my Macbook). It coincides with sync to cloud (which has been the only way to sync calendars on multiple devices for a few years). So I copy the event before it wipes it and then paste after it has wiped the event and the new one stays. This is much harder on an iPhone and has to be done one at a time. It is also not exactly the same problem but probably has the same root cause.
