iMessage Contact List in Messages Beta for Mac

I downloaded and am exploring the iMessage features in the new Messages Beta App for Mac, however, I've noticed that there is no "buddy list" or easy way to see who else in my contacts I am able to send an iMessage to. Of course I can think in my head who I know with iPhones, iPads etc, but even then there isn't a way to tell if they even have iOS 5... shouldn't there be an iMessage group in the contacts list?

Hi,

You may need to do some work in the Address Book by creating a Group of people that do have either Phone numbers or Apple IDs that you can contact.

Hi,

My Messages picks up on all the iChat accounts I had before I updated to messages.

My Buddy lists were separate and show up the same way as before.

CMD and th 1 Key together launches my AIM Buddy list (it is that order in my Messages > Accounts)

I agree with you.

I think iMessage Beta is a cool program with one major problem...Out of my couple hundred contacts, how am I supposed to know which ones are ipad/iphone users? I can think of a few off the top of my head.

Is there a way in address book/contacts that distinguishes IOS users vs. non?

If not, it makes the product a bit usesless. If I want to send out texts from my mac using the program, it's pretty much trial and error without a usable contact list.

Any suggestions?

yes, we're on the same wave length here. Basically if you wanted to see if someone had an iMessage account you could potentially type their name into the compose new message window, and there is sometimes a blue bubble that will pop up by emails and phone numbers that have iMessage. In my experience this for sure pops up for those that i have imessaged in the past, but may not necessarily automatically be there for someone I've never imessaged before.
