When I first plugged in my passport there was a icon on the desktop. Once I synced the passport with Time Machine, the icon disappeared. Now I have no way to safetly eject the WD passport. However if I just unplugg it I get a message that I should hae ejected it first. What can I do to safetly eject it?

Open disk utility, in Applications, Utilities, highlight the drive, then from the menu bar click eject.
In Disk Utilites, if the drive is attached it should appear on the left side in the list of drives, may have a different name than WD Passport...see what is listed.
