how do I make my Mac Pro "Discoverable"?

I have a pre-bluetooth Mac Pro at version 10.7.3. I've recently purchased an IOGear GBU421 bluetooth adapter so that I can use a Magic Trackpad with my Mac.

But when I attempt setup, the "Discoverable" option on the BlueTooth Set Up screen is greyed out. Meanwhile, bluetooth won't find my magic mouse.

any advise please!?

I just realized that if you have the rest of the menu, it is recognized. So, editing this post.

You can't set it discoverable in that menu. you have to do it from the Bluetooth system preferences.

Not sure why yours is disabled. Maybe it can't control that feature for the USB device.

However, you shouldn't need to make the Mac discoverable. Click Set Up Device and make the Trackpad discoverable by holding the power button while turning it on.
