does giffgaff support tethering on iphone 4

Since they are not a supported carrier, it's unlikely.

GiffGaff 'piggybacks' on the O2 network - which is a supported carrier. Although, looking at their site it seems they don't support tethering at all - iPhone or otherwise...

Bought a new phone 5S and would find tethering handy evey now and again when out and about using the iPad.

Turns out the £600+ i spent on an iPhone wont let me tether because giff gaff is not on the approved carriers list?

So my choice

Change carrier and pay more for an internet connection i already have on the phone, just so i can teather!

Or

Ebay it and buy nearly any other phone that supports tethering!

Apple; you need to sort this out. Why are you limiting a phone that i bought directly from you?

Apple need to remove the restriction on tethering totally. I see no justifiable reason to limit access to somthing that is considered a basic function nowadays.

The more data we consume the more companys make money, whats it matter what device we use?

There is no "restriction" All your carrier has to do is provision your account properly to enable it. YOU chose to use a carrier that can't figure out how to do that. That's your own fault. Plenty of unsupported carriers can enable tethering. It's not rocket science. Your chooses not to or can't figure out how.
