I had a dual boot system using a Windows Partition onto which I installed the latest version of Ubuntu. It was working great until I upgraded to Lion on the other partition. Now, not only is Ubuntu complaining that my monitor has no EDID and therefore wont boot, but even my Windows XP SP 3 disc wont recognize my keyboard, so I couldn't even install Windows if I wanted to.
Can someone give me a pointer as to what I'm doing wrong?

moved and added partition number and table entries to provide Lion Recovery most likely.
Putting Lion on external drive is / was easy enogh and then clone back or use Setup Assistant would avoid that.
Not sure what you need to edit, something like BCDedit for Windows.
Upgrade is not, especially when you have XP or Ubuntu (let alone both).
I'm not sure I understand what you're reccomending.

There are also EFI and a Windows 100MB System volume.
