Screen shots commands still not working

Does anyone have a solution to this problem? I was hoping updating to 10.4.5 will fix it, but It's still going on.

Thanks

Have you renamed your Desktop folder by accident? The system tries to save screenshots there and since 10.4 they are in .png format by default. If you're running your OS in english localization your files will be named "Picture 1", "Picture 2" and so on. The names will be localized in other languages.

When DVD player is running you cannot take any screenshots with the built in functions as they'll be disabled.

Thanks for this advice...and you're correct that it's a png rather than a pdf that I'm not seeing. I confirmed my desktop folder name, have tried disconnecting my external dvd burner and, in fact, all periferals. I've checked and reset keyboard hotkeys in the event I've double-booked command-shift-3 .. still nothing.

I appreciate your help...it's the most creative I've encountered.
