I accidentally deleted 1 week of work before the computer crashed. HELP ! I just need to go 3 steps back. But since the project crashed, I cannot go back.
What's to be done ?

I'm sorry, but unless you have backups, it seems you've lost your work. You won't want to hear this now, but it's vital to keep regular backups of important work - on at least one other Hard Drive.
Duplicating projects takes a few seconds in FCP X - but it can be a blessing. Whenever I do anything experimental or anything I'm not completely sure of, I duplicate my project, or create a test project. Then I make sure all my projects are properly backed up onto another external HD. That way, my main project is kept safe.
