That would be correct. Perhaps downloading the user manual and reading it, might prove beneficial. iPad needs the supplied 10W wall charger to charge quickly as most computers are USB 2.0, which will not provide a sufficient charge. It will trickle charge at best through USB and computer.

The USB port do not supply enough power. Use the supplied 10W charger.

Check what else is plugged in. I had the same issue this week with my ipad2 plugged into the back of my iMac. Turns out it was the steelseries gaming mouse I had plugged into my keyboard. Moved it to the back of my iMac, bam, lighting bolt. Moved mouse back to USB port on keyboard, iPad back to not charging.
