How do I stop update notifications for a peripheral I no longer use?

I keep receiving update notifications for a printer I no longer use. I was certain I removed all software associated with the printer but the update notifications persist. Thanks.

iMac, Mac OS X (10.6.8)

Just a guess, but you didn't say, did you also remove the printer's entry from System Preferences > Print & Fax? If that isn't it, you may want to contact your printer's product support for advise.

It's unlikely you managed to remove all traces of the old printer.

Is the notifaction from the Printer vendor or Software Update?

If it's Software Update, just highlight the item in the SU window, go to the menu bar Update menu and select "ignore update".

That will stop it pestering you with that one. You may get further ones when the next update becomes available, but just repeat the exercise.

If it's from the printer vendor you'll need to speak to their support as Dansyacht says.
