Feb 20, 2012 10:31 PM in response to Katie_Bug_88by quitin,Is there any other clear steps on how to uninstall the firmware? I cant understand the steps, the one you send is for ipod. And what is the step 2? What will i do? Im confuse.l.msorry for the ignorance?. Lol

Feb 20, 2012 11:47 PM in response to quitinby Katie_Bug_88,The article came out before 2007.
You need to skip step 2 because that step is for the iPod only.
You want to copy and paste which computer system applies to you in step 3 into your start menu search engine and follow the rest of the steps
After you finish you should follow the DFU Mode link and restore

Feb 21, 2012 4:58 AM in response to Katie_Bug_88by cheng tat,DFU mode is diff with Recovery Mode right? how to get into Recovery Mode? TQ
-
Feb 21, 2012 7:54 AM in response to cheng tatby Katie_Bug_88,Recovery mode automatically installs software and updates firmware
DFU Mode allows the software and installs new firmware.....

Feb 21, 2012 8:50 AM in response to Katie_Bug_88by cheng tat,Hi Katie, "DFU Mode allows the software" mean what??
If I confident with my existing downloaded firmware (IOS 5.0.1 built 9A406) which I believe does not have problem, then can I just directly restore using DFU mode without delete the existing firmware & download a new firmware again?
How to access to Recovery Mode instead of DFU Mode? Is it almost same procedure with accessing into DFU Mode but the difference is DFU mode is releasing the sleep/wake button in black screen before apple logo appears but the Recovery Mode is releasing the sleep/wake button in apple logo screen after the apple logo appears?
Secondly, iphone screen will remain black after accessing DFU mode but in Recovery mode, it will turn into screen with itunes & usb cable pictures appear, right?
Will it be IOS 5.0.1 built (9A406) has bug problem but IOS 5.0.1 built (9A405) no problem? Because my friend's iphone 4 & even 3GS with IOS 5.0.1 built (9A405) so far has no problem. So, If iphone 4 with IOS 5.0.1 built (9A405) really no problem, then maybe Quitin might downgrade to IOS 5.0.1 built (9A405) & see the response.
Tq Katie!!

Feb 21, 2012 2:47 PM in response to cheng tatby quitin,I believe im on my ios 4 then upgraded to ios 5.
My friend bought this march 2011.
I checked my serial number that you give, then here is the info
Generation : 4
Production year : 2011
Production week : 8 (february)
Factory : 85 (china)
Machine model : iphone3,1
Then it says : So far 18 hardware problems have been entered for this model.
If you had or have any hardware problems with this machine you can tell them to us. This will over time reveal if particular models have particular problems. Your email address is needed to prevent fake entries but your address will not be shown on our site. Please give a brief desciption of the problem with this machine (max 500 characters):
What does it means? Thay figure out the problem with the hardware with this model? Oh my.... :(

Feb 21, 2012 7:59 PM in response to quitinby cheng tat,No worry Quitin. U just tell them what are ur problems & see what is the responce from them. But don't let them repair or etc first. I believe that is not your hardware issue cause I just bought my 4S on Jan 2012 but also have the same problem with your March 2011 iphone 4 problem. Somemore, u mentioned that before upgrading to IOS 5, u got no problem. There must be something wrong with IOS 5 or IOS 5.0.1.
Anyway, what IOS version u having the problem & using it now? IOS 5 or IOS 5.0.1 (9A406) or 5.0.1 (9A405)? U can check via Setting-General-About-Version.

Feb 21, 2012 9:10 PM in response to cheng tatby Katie_Bug_88,If you are not going to delete the firmware file there is no reason to place in recovery mode or DFU Mode
You do as you please
This is the last procedures Apple Support would attempt to resolve the issue before servicing the phone
Perhaps you should go to your carrier and see if there are issues on their end too

Feb 21, 2012 10:39 PM in response to Katie_Bug_88by cheng tat,Ic. Can I just move the firmware folder file to other location in my PC as my backup purpose without deleting it & then download the new firmware?
Actually, previously I don't know there is DFU mode exists (is it DFU mode is in black screen condition?). All the while I restore firmware using Recovery Mode only (is it Recovery Mode is with iTunes & USB cable logo?).
The latest firmware restoration i did previously was using Recovery mode & download a new firmware. Is it DFU mode is better than Recovery mode for this issue solution? If so, I will do it again using DFU mode & delete & download a new firmware again.
Tq Katie
