Is Mackeeper 2012 an authentic Apple product?

A Mackeeper 2012 screen appeared when I was quitting out of Safari,

and I initially went ahead and installed it.

Having second thoughts, I sent it to the trash bin, because I need to know

if it is an authentic Apple-generated security product. Is it?

Thank you!

It is NOT and Apple product. There have been numerous reports on here of issues with a previous version of MacKeeper. I have only spotted one other post referring to MacKeeper 2012. However, it does seem like their very aggressive marketing techniques are still in place.

Hi,

New to Apple. Got a pop up from Mackeeper, pressed the download button, then felt I should check on the Apple web site! When I returned to the download it asked me to install, which I didn't and sent it to the bin. Do I need to do anything else to get rid of this programme? I have not had any more pop ups and no further stuff fronm mackeeper.

Many thanks

Best regards
