Nanosaur 2 won't open
Although Nanosaur 2 used to run without any difficulty on my iMac, it now refuses to open and these messages appear:
CreateHIDDeviceInterface: Couldn't open device interface
Problems with Input On OS X
The HID Manager
On Mac OS X there is a technology called the HID Manager. This is what games are supposed to use for doing input. Unfortunately, the HID Manager is very buggy when running on Mac OS 10.2. Apple has not provided any updates to fix these problems, but some issues have been fixed in 10.3.
So if your keyboard is not being recognized by the game, or if certain keys don't work, or if your get various error messages, please know that these are not our fault; they are problems with the HID Manager.
Rebooting will usually solve most HID Manager problems, so try that first. If that still doesn't work then try checking the "Don't Use HID for Input" checkbox. (Pangea)
Nanosaur runs on the iMac at my grandchildren's home. Although I use a USB hub to connect scanner, iPod, and iMic, the keyboard is directly connected to the iMac. I've unplugged and replugged the connections, and I've rebooted without any result. It's impossible to check the "Don't Use HID for Input" checkbox, because the game doesn't load to allow access to its preferences. Our iMac has OS X 10.4.5.
Does anyone know anything about resolving this HID manager problem?
