I currently have iWork '09 on my iMac. I installed it before the Mac App Store from installation discs purchased through apple. How do I get the Mac App Store to recognize that I have iWork without purchasing the same thing again through the MAS.
You can't do this. The Mac App Store shows it as not purchased because it was never purchased from the Mac App Store. If you need to install iWork, either use the install disk or purchase iWork in the Mac App Store.
So, regardless apple is going to make me pay for the same thing twice?
Nobody's going to make you pay for it twice. Just accept that the Mac App Store won't list it as purchased, and get any free updates for it from the Software Update pane of System Preferences.

Sometimes there are loop holes, which I was trying to find. Would you want to pay $60 for something you already have? Don't think so. This is a problem apple should address to people who purchased iWork 09 from a disc.
You loaded it from a CD. It would only show up in the Mac App Store if you purchased it from there.

I don't know, why would I? I loaded mine from a CD as well, and have no desire to purchase it again in the Mac App Store.

There is no advantage to the MAS version over the retail package on DVD. You get your updates through Software Update in the Apple menu. Folks with the MAS version get their updates through the MAS. When the next major version of iWorks is released, it will be a paid upgrade for everyone and it will only be available from the MAS at that point. Then everyone with the '09 versions will have to buy the new version through the MAS.
Truthfully, your version of iWorks '09 takes less disk space than the MAS versions of the individual apps. Your installation has shared libraries and other resources. The MAS versions are independent and have duplicate resourses using more disk space.
There is nothing to be gained by your belly aching about it. You have had it explained that this is the current situation and you need to accept it and move on to much more important issues in life. Such as, will your current Mac run the new version of Mac OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion when it comes out this summer? 😉

HI there! there is an important issue, if I save a file on pages (dvd version)saving in icloud, modify it on ipad and save it by icloud again, when I go on that file back on my mac, I got probems, not the "heavenly mirror-experience" and pages dvd version's got problem opening ios saved file and vice-versa. is it different with MAS version?
