Setting up Netgear WiFi Extender

I'm trying to set up a Netgear wifi extender - WN 2000RPT - and it's driving me mad.

Not sure that we can offer much help for a Negear product on an Apple support forum.

If your "main" base station or router is an Apple product, it is extremely unlikely that a Netgear product would be compatible with Apple for the purpose of "extending" the wireless network using wireless only.

If your main router is an Apple product, you should use another Apple product to "extend" the wireless signal.

If your main router is a Netgear product, then you would need to check with Netgear support for details on how to get things configured.

What would be a good solution to extend wifi for my iPad, iPhone, and iMac using my airport router? My router is downstairs in a study near my iMac but could use better access in the back corner of the house and eventually upstairs. I'd like to keep the router where it is since its attached to DSL, VoIP and Drob.

Apple's instructions to "Extend a wireless network" are in the link below. If you have an AirPort Extreme now, then that would be a good choice for the product to extend as well.

If you have an AirPort Express, then another Express would be a good choice.

A good location for a AirPort that "extends" is a point that is approximately half the distance from the main router to the general area where more coverage is desired. Depending on walls, ceilings, and other obstructions in the signal path, you may need to experiment with the location of the AirPort for best results.
