how to create a secure folder

hello out there,


I'm trying to create a secure folder to pop documents in. i've tried using disk utility, failed, permission issues even though i'm adminstrator, tried the cmd line (scary) so what else? 🙂


any help welcome

There is no feature built-in to the OS which will do that. There may be some 3rd-party software out there that can do that; I haven't seen any, and would be more than a bit leery of trusting it.


One solution is to create a disk image using Disk Utility and password protect it. This results in a disk image which can not be mounted (and thus have its contents accessible) unless the password is entered.
