YouTube unknown error on iPad and iPhone

Are you using safari or the you tube app?

Double tap the home button to see the task bar. Touch and hold any of the icons until they jiggle, then delete them ** touching the minus sign. Then reboot the pad by holding the home and sleep button until you see the apple logo. Ignore the red slider.

Then try again.

If you are going to the YouTube site via a browser, anything requiring Flash content will not load.

I have the exactly same issue, and exactly followed above instructions. However, I still have the problem, and youtube doesn't work on Safari either. Could anybody help me fix this issue? Thank you!

Me too! I haven't been able to watch YouTube on my iPhone 4S. Is this a YouTube issue or iPhone? I've been getting errors from time to time even when I watch YouTube on my Mac.

Same here, "uknown error" every time we want to play a Youtube video on the Original iPad, with the latest O.S. AND YES THE YOUTUBE APP WHICH CAN'T BE DELETED AND REINSTALLED AS OTHER APPS. And Youtube videos over Safari won't play either.

Apple support recommended backing up the iPad with iTunes, reseting it to original settings, then restore the backup, which we did, however, that didn't fix the problem, as if we would have backed up the problem along and restored it back.

ANY IDEAS?

Try signing out of Youtube and sign back in again to re-authenticate your account. That seemed to work for me - Good Luck! I hope that does the trick

Do you have two routers by any chance? I had a VPN router (non-wireless) and another router (wireless to provide WiFi) connected to it. Well, I didn't need the VPN router anymore, so I removed the VPN router and changed the settings of the wireless router to use it as the only router at home. Now it's all OK. Looks like it had to do with the router, but I cannot tell exactly what caused it.

That being said, I could view YouTube with no problem for a long time with the same settings, so I don't know why it started all of a sudden.

I confused my last reply with another issue - I have just remebered the fix for this poblem. Power off your router and restart it, that will fix resolve it immediately.
